Ground preperations
Concrete bases
A great garden studio requires a solid foundtion and we recommend a solid concrete base. This foundation will prevent your garden office settling or moving over time ensuring that your garden studio remains solid for years to come. Concrete also helps prevent rodent incursion.
Reinforced concrete
Where required for larger projects, reinforced concrete can be constructed to maintain structural integrity.
Insulated concrete
Concrete slab insulation can be provided and is 50mm (1.25. R value) polystyrene. With the option to overlay with 25mm king span (R-Value: 1.14m2K/W) on a timber floor to create a flush cill finish on a bifold door
Construction
Doors and windows
One of the many benefits of using a bespoke garden office builder is that elements of the garden studio build such as windows and doors can be chosen to any specification. We can provide different colours, increased security or thermal efficiency to suit your requirements.
Roofing
Your garden studio roof is a key part of keeping your studio warm and dry. EPDM rubber roofing membrane is unmatched in terms of longevity and performance, offering 100% waterproofing.
Insulation
As a standard we would use 50mm mineral wool insulation (EN 13162 standard rated) in the walls & ceiling and double board the ceilings .
Thermal Conductivity: 0.035W/mK
R-Value: 1.43m2K/W
Fire Rating (Reaction to Fire): A1(Non-combustible)
Finishing touches
CLADDING
We recommend Abodo cladding for the best quality finish. We can offer a range of timber cladding options to suit your style and budget. Regardless if you choose Cedar, Larch or Abodo your cladding will provide a stylish and modern protection to your garden building.
INTERIOR FINISHING
The standard finish to the interior of your garden room is dry lined and plastered to a high quality finish . We can also offer ply or internal cladding as well as accent cladding.
Additional requirements such as Venetian plastering can be accommodated.
ELECTRICAL FITTINGS
Plug sockets and lighting can be designed to your specifications. We will provide the first and second fit of the electrical elements of your garden office. From there you can choose to source your own electrician to connect your services or we can arrange this for you at an additional cost.
Abodo cladding
What is ABODO?
Abodo Vulcan Cladding is a premium weatherboard timber. Created from Abodo’s thermally modified New Zealand plantation timber for superior beauty, durability and weathering characteristics. Vulcan Cladding is suitable for coating in darker colours, and is a renewable alternative to Cedar Cladding.
